⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s been a while since a book has left me as satisfied as “My Husband’s Wife” by Alice Feeney. The story engages you right from the beginning, taking you through a wild trip that will shake you side to side.

Even the smallest details, that might seem irrelevant at first, will have an impact at the end. Each of them placed carefully to steer you towards the desired direction until every shocking revelation is delivered at the end.

Summary

The book starts with two, seemingly, separate stories lines. The first one follows Eden Fox, who returns home from an afternoon run to find the door locked and her key not working. Eden’s life takes a tumble when a woman wearing Eden’s gown and claiming to be Eden herself opens the door. Even her own husband seems to not recognize her and calls the cops. The young, almost boyish, police officer who answers the call doesn’t believe her story either and threatens with an arrest.

On a separate storyline occurring 6 months earlier, Birdy receives a life ending diagnosis and a life changing gift. Her grandmother, who she didn’t even know existed has past, naming Birdy her sole heir.

Review

For a while, you will keep turning pages trying to figure out what the book is about. In the first few chapters, the stories will get even stranger and more engaging, as the author leads you in all sorts of directions.

As the plot progresses, tips, hints are proposed while you keep wondering, suspecting, and hypothesizing what is going on. But you won’t see the ending coming. And right when you think the mystery is solved, another unexpected turn will throw off your balance.

Conclusion

Full of twists and turns and characters that you’ll love, hate, and love to hate, “My Husband’s Wife” is an extraordinary mystery by Alice Feeney, and one of my favorite novels of the year. A must read for the suspense aficionado that gets a well deserved four stars.
